The Lakeway Lakers is a year-round swim program that was formed to insure that the children in the Lake Travis area have a community swim team. The team is managed by the parent volunteers serving on the Board of Directors for Lakeway Swimming, Inc. The team practices at the Lakeway Swim Center, but it is not managed or operated by the City of Lakeway or the Lakeway Swim Center. Lakeway Swimming, Inc. is a nonprofit and exempt organization in the state of Texas and an exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The summer swim team, which provides swimming practice and competitive swim meets during May and June, is part of the Austin Hills Swim League. Registration occurs in April. The summer swim team accepts swimmers who meet the eligibility requirements until the maximum enrollment is reached. Eligible swimmers are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. The year round swim team, which is a USA Swimming sanctioned team, operates from September through April. Formal registration is in late August but swimmers who meet the eligibility requirements can join the year round swim team at any time from September through April.
