Summer Swim Team

The summer swim team accepts any swimmer ages 5-17 (as of May 1 of the current year) who can swim one lap (25 yards) each of freestyle and backstroke. The summer season is very recreational, with the team participating in age group dual meets with teams in the Austin area.

Year Round Swim Team

The year round swim team accepts any swimmers ages 5-17 (as of September 1 of the current year) who can swim one lap (25 yards) each of freestyle and backstroke. The year round team is a sanctioned USA Swimming team that works out every weeknight and participants swim up to 1,500-4,500 yards during practice. The year round swim team is ideal for kids who want to become better swimmers, exercise, and focus on individual goals. Meets are held at different indoor facilities in Central Texas, such as the University of Texas and Southwestern University. Swimmers are encouraged, but not required, to participate in meets. The year round team is as competitive as the swimmer chooses to make it. The team focuses on individual goals and beating your own times. Swimmers who participate for at least five hours a week can use the swim team for a Category II PE equivalency at LT ISD middle and high schools (see your counselor for more information).

Tryouts

Swimmers who are joining a swim team for the first time are encouraged to participate in a one-day tryout with the team before paying their registration fees or monthly dues. Please contact the coach to arrange for a tryout. To be eligible for swim team, a swimmer must be able to swim at least one full lap (25 yards) each of freestyle and backstroke without assistance. If you are uncertain about whether your swimmer can complete this requirement, please contact the coach to arrange for a free one-day tryout with the team. Tryouts must be scheduled in advance while the team is practicing and the swimmer’s parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver/release of liability before the swimmer enters the water and be present during the tryout. Swimmers who register for swim team without participating in a tryout will be ineligible to continue participating on the swim team if the coach determines that they are unable to swim the strokes and distance. No refunds will be made to swimmers who cannot participate on swim team based on the eligibility requirements.
