Dear Parents and Swimmers:
I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to be a part of the growing
youth swim team in Lakeway. Together we can continue to meet the needs of all
the swimmers in this community.
The 2008/2009 season will have its first practices on September 2nd. The
registration packet for the 2008/2009 season will be available for all
interested swimmers on the website tomorrow morning August 27th. All forms must
be completed and turned into the box at the Lakeway Swim Center at your earliest
convenience this week. If you should have any questions volunteers will be
available to answer those questions on Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 8:00pm,
otherwise just drop off your forms in the box at the front desk as early as
possible to ensure a spot on the team. Swimmers new to USA Swimming must also
include a copy of their birth certificate in order to register with USA Swimming
and be cleared to practice the first day.
**our winter team has not had to cap enrollment in the past but the 2008
summer** season did limit enrollment due to increased interest, so sign up early
to ensure a spot.
An annual registration payment of $85.00 along with the first month of practice
dues must be made at the time of registration to Lakeway Swimming. This fee
includes your swimmer's annual USA Swimming registration and a subscription to
"Splash" magazine, and allows your swimmer to participate in team practices and
USA Swimming sanctioned meets for which they are eligible. After the first
month, team dues are made on the first of the month and vary depending on the
swimmer's group placement.
Monthly
practice dues will be included with the registration packet.
Red Group (a): 3:15-3:45pm M,W,F - beginner swimmers ages 7-9
Red Group (b): 3:15-3:45pm T,Th,F - beginner swimmers ages 5-7
Bronze Group: 3:45-4:45pm M-F - can swim all 4 competitive strokes ages 6-10
Silver Group: 4:45-5:45pm M-F- can swim all 4 competitive strokes ages 10+
Gold Group: 5:45-7:30pm M-F, 9:00-11:00 Sat. - coach approval required ages 10+
Gold Group (b): 5:45-7:30pm T,Th 9:00-11:00 Sat - ages 15+ High School Swimmers
Group descriptions, including dues, are available on the website, however the
Coach will have final say in group placement as groups may need to be
restructured based on swimmer enrollment. Swimmers are grouped at practice by
ability based on the coach's relationship with the swimmer or the swimmer's
tryout. The coach will assign swimmers to groups and individual lanes to make
sure that they are grouped with swimmers who swim at the same level. Swimmers
may not join another practice group without coach permission. The coach will
inform parents in advance of swimmers who are being promoted to the next group.
